Clare J. Quish
Partner

Illinois Rising Star for 2009 and 2010 and former Adjunct Professor of Appellate Advocacy at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, few can match Clare Quish's determination and perseverance to explore all avenues in her quest to solve any issues presented. It is that drive that earned her high praise as a law clerk to the Honorable Mary Jane Theis, Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, and today makes Clare an integral part of the growing commercial and civil litigation practice group at Schuyler, Roche & Crisham.

While clerking for Justice Theis, Clare assisted in researching, drafting and editing judicial opinions and orders in all areas of civil and criminal appellate practice, including insurance coverage, professional liability, personal injury, declaratory judgment actions, appellate jurisdiction, arbitration and evidentiary issues. She also assisted in the disposition of various appellate motions and petitions for leave to appeal to the Illinois Appellate Court.

Clare's many early successes in private practice include: assisted partners Thomas Crisham and Jean Prendergast in prosecuting a breach of contract and indemnification case that resulted in a jury verdict in favor of their client, a commercial shipping carrier; assisted in successfully defending an emergency appeal from an order granting a temporary restraining order on behalf of the firm's corporate client; obtained supervisory relief from the Illinois Supreme Court ordering the Illinois Appellate Court to accept the firm's application for leave to appeal to review a certified question concerning interpretation of the Supreme Court Rules governing arbitration; and assisted in successfully defending an architect and his firm from allegations of defamation and intentional interference with a contract when the Illinois Appellate Court affirmed the circuit court's order dismissing the plaintiff's complaint with prejudice.

A graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law (Dean's List, cum laude), Clare served as Executive Publications Editor of the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal.

At Schuyler, Roche & Crisham, Clare concentrates in appellate practice, commercial and civil litigation, including professional liability, personal injury defense, insurance coverage and construction law.
