Michael T. Roche
Associate

Mike serves as trial counsel in banking, commercial mortgage foreclosure, intellectual property, securities, unfair competition, mechanics lien and contract litigation in state and federal courts and also in arbitrations. He is a member of the Illinois Bar and was admitted to the Supreme Court of the State of Illinois in 2002. In 2008, 2009 and 2010, Mike was designated by Law and Politics Magazine as an Illinois Rising Star, an honor given to the top 2.5% of attorneys in the state. He is also an active auxiliary board member of the Center for Independent Futures based in Evanston, an organization devoted to assisting individuals with mental and physical disabilities.

Notable Cases:

  • Successful prosecution of a commercial mortgage foreclosure action on behalf of a Chicago area bank against 17 separate borrowers. This action involved first litigating the validity of several million dollars in mechanics' lien claims that were recorded against 42 acres of land valued at one time at $25 million dollars, and then foreclosing seven separate mortgages.
  • In a breach of contract action, obtained an arbitration award in favor of a national securities brokerage firm for the full amount of actual damages, plus interest and attorneys' fees.
  • Secured a seven figure judgment for a distribution company in a breach of contract and unjust enrichment action.
  • In a case involving the development of a condominium building, obtained summary judgment on behalf of the electrical sub-contractor for the full amount of its mechanics' lien, plus interest. In an opinion that exceeded sixty pages, the appellate court affirmed summary judgment in favor of the sub-contractor in its entirety.

A graduate of Marquette University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in History, Mike earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he was a member and editor-at-large of the Loyola Law Journal.
