Friend, Colleague and Mentor--Jeffrey T. Kubes
The attorneys and staff of Schuyler Roche & Crisham P.C. are saddened to announce the passing of their friend, colleague and mentor, Jeffrey T. Kubes, on August 14, 2015 at the age of 59. Jeff joined Schuyler, Roche & Crisham in 2009 where he served as a member of the Board of Directors and Shareholder. Jeff focused his litigation practice on construction law, representing architects and engineers in professional liability cases, where he gained a nationwide reputation, and built a strong team of lawyers to serve his diverse client base. Prior to joining SRC, he was a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson for more than 11 years, where he first met Thomas M. Crisham, with whom he practiced for the rest of his career. In 1996, Jeff joined Tom Crisham and others as a partner at Quinlan & Crisham. In 2001, Jeff and Tom started their own firm, Crisham & Kubes. In 2009, Jeff, along with the rest of Crisham & Kubes, joined Schuyler, Roche, becoming Schuyler, Roche & Crisham.
Jeff was a frequent lecturer and writer on all issues relating to the defense of architects and engineers in professional liability litigation. For more than a decade, he organized and moderated a seminar on a variety of risk management issues and other legal issues relevant to his clients. Jeff was active in numerous bar and construction associations, including Defense Research and Trial Lawyers Institute, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, Society of Trial Lawyers of Illinois, American Institute of Architects, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys.
Jeff is survived by his wife Deb, his son Gavin and daughter-in-law Mariekris, daughters Brittany and Cassandra, and grandchildren Cole and Olivia Kubes. There will be a visitation on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Name Cathedral, 735 North State Street, Chicago, IL. A funeral mass will follow at 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Lymphoma Program, Division of Hematology/Oncology, Dr. Leo Gordon.
